Becoming a Therapist
Persona has been successfully providing professional development programmes in counselling and psychotherapy for over twenty years and is now one of three organisations offering BACP accredited programmes in Scotland. Our programmes are designed to accommodate people who have work commitments during the week. The courses take place mainly at weekends and during Post Graduate Diploma programme in week-long blocks. The training programmes are designed to thoroughly prepare students with the professional competence and personal confidence to practice in a broad range of settings.
The Persona programmes are founded on Person-Centred principles, which means they are not simply about learning the core elements of the Person-Centred approach; they are about learning within a Person-Centred learning environment. The central values of the Person-Centred approach are the major influence in the design, structure and the curriculum of the programmes we provide as well as how they are delivered and managed. Course facilitators and trainers are committed to a Person-Centred philosophy and a trust in each person’s ability to find a way to direct his/her own development, based on a belief in the actualising tendency; the tendency of the individual to grow and develop to one’s full potential.

“Being a student on the Persona PG Counselling Diploma was the best and most important decision I have ever made. It has been life changing. The group process and emphasis on self- development was instrumental in my journey of self-discovery.”
“Being on the programme opened up new insights into who I was - an awareness to change certain things and an acceptance of those things in me that I could truly cherish. This wouldn't have been possible without my peers and tutors. A great learning experience indeed! “
